In the world of Belarusian embroidery, the traditional meets the modern. “Neo-Embroidery” delves into the impact of new media on the design of traditional Belarusian embroidery, asking how AI-generated ornaments have reshaped this age-old craft. This project embarks on a journey of discovery by comparing AI-generated patterns from two distinct datasets: one composed of ‘authentic’ Belarusian ornaments and another sourced from online content. Through the lens of these ‘mutated’ AI designs, the evolving nature of Belarusian ornamentation is explored.
