How reliable are Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in classifying different types of modern and contemporary sculptures? This research aims to answer this question by examining the predictive power of CNNs in categorizing sculptures from the digital collection of the Beelden aan Zee Museum (BaZ). Can these AI models differentiate between the diverse forms of modern sculpture, such as busts, figures, fragments, geometric forms, heads, installations, organic forms, and relievos?
